GE Fanuc IC200ERM002 VersaMax Non-Isolated Expansion Receiver Module
1. Product Overview
The IC200ERM002 is a non-isolated expansion receiver module in the GE Fanuc (now Emerson Automation Solutions) VersaMax distributed I/O system. It provides no I/O points itself; instead it acts as the bus interface between an expansion rack and the main rack. It installs in slot 0 (leftmost position) of the expansion rack and pairs with the IC200ETM001 expansion transmitter in the main rack to extend the I/O bus from a VersaMax CPU or NIU (Network Interface Unit) to a remote expansion rack.
The module supports two expansion configurations:
- Multi-rack system: the main-rack ETM001 connects via expansion cable to up to 7 expansion racks (up to 8 I/O modules each); non-isolated ERM002 limits total cable length to 15 m;
- Single-ended two-rack local system: the main rack needs no ETM001; a single 1 m cable connects the main rack directly to one expansion rack, no terminator required.
The expansion rack must be equipped with its own VersaMax power supply to power the I/O modules. The ERM002 draws 5V/3.3V from the backplane, has LED status indicators, and mounts on DIN rail or panel.

Per GE Fanuc VersaMax System Manual (GFK-1534B / GFK series). If the expansion bus includes any non-isolated ERM002, total cable length is limited to 15 m; using all-isolated ERM001 allows up to 750 m. The expansion rack must have a power supply for the I/O modules.
5. Model Information
- Catalog number (ordering number): IC200ERM002
- Product description: GE Fanuc VersaMax non-isolated expansion receiver module for I/O rack expansion, installed in slot 0 of the expansion rack.
- Official catalog description: IC200ERM002 Expansion Receiver Module, Non-isolated — Interfaces an expansion rack to a VersaMax PLC or NIU I/O Station system with up to 15m cable length.
- Material number note: IC200ERM002 is the official GE Fanuc / Emerson ordering number. Trailing revision letters (e.g. IC200ERM002C, IC200ERM002E) denote hardware revisions with identical function. If you have questions on selecting 001 (isolated) vs 002 (non-isolated) or cable length limits, please contact us by email.

6. Why Choose Us
- Exact model match: We verify supply against your full catalog number IC200ERM002, distinguishing 001 (isolated, 750m) from 002 (non-isolated, 15m) to avoid wrong shipment.
- Authorized channel supply: GE Fanuc / Emerson VersaMax modules supplied through regular channels, with product documentation available on request.
- Selection support: We help confirm rack count, cable length limits, power configuration and ETM001 pairing; for long-distance expansion we can recommend the isolated ERM001.
- Delivery & after-sales: Quotation, lead-time confirmation and order follow-up provided; for any parameter questions or alternative options, please contact us by email.
7. FAQ
Q1: What is the IC200ERM002? Does it have I/O points?
A: The IC200ERM002 is a VersaMax expansion receiver module. It provides no I/O points itself. It installs in slot 0 of an expansion rack and acts as the I/O bus interface between the main rack (with IC200ETM001) and the expansion rack.
Q2: What is the difference between non-isolated (002) and isolated (001)?
A: IC200ERM002 is non-isolated with a 15m max cable length in multi-rack systems; IC200ERM001 is isolated with up to 750m. If any non-isolated 002 is used in the system, the whole expansion bus is limited to 15m. Choose 002 for short rack-to-rack extension, 001 for long-distance distributed I/O.
Q3: How far can the expansion rack be placed?
A: With ERM002 non-isolated, multi-rack max cable is 15m; single-ended two-rack local config (no main-rack ETM) is max 1m. For distances over 15m, use the isolated IC200ERM001 (up to 750m).
Q4: How is this module installed? Do I set an address?
A: The ERM002 must install in slot 0 (leftmost) of the expansion rack, plugged into a VersaMax I/O carrier; no address DIP switches are needed. The expansion rack requires its own VersaMax power supply for the I/O modules.
Q5: What does single-ended two-rack configuration mean?
A: When the main rack only needs one expansion rack, the main rack can omit the ETM001; a single 1m cable connects the main rack directly to the ERM002 in the expansion rack, with no terminator in the expansion rack. This "single-ended" config is limited to 1m cable.
Q6: How many racks and modules can a system expand to?
A: Up to 7 expansion racks, each with up to 8 I/O modules. Total I/O points are further limited by the CPU/NIU addressing capability and power budget. Please email us to help calculate your system configuration.
